Plastering for Freckleton Homes
Plastering is half of what we do, internal and external. In Freckleton that means skimming walls and ceilings in the older cottages, boarding out extensions and loft rooms on the newer estates, and re-skims where damp has been dealt with and the room needs finishing properly. If you need a plasterer in Freckleton, Warton or Newton, one call covers all three.
Doing the rendering as well changes how we read internal problems. Stained or blown plaster on an outside wall usually starts outside, with cracked render or failed pebbledash letting water through. Because we handle both sides of the wall, we trace the fault back, fix the cause, then make the room good, instead of skimming over a problem that returns next winter.

- Blown and hollow plaster in the older brick cottages near the village centre
- Ceilings that need overboarding and skimming after years of Artex
- Damp staining low on outside walls that tracks back to failed render
- New extensions needing boarding and skimming ready for paint
One trade, both sides of the wall. Whether it's a single ceiling or every room in the house, we'll leave the plaster flat, clean and ready for decorating, and if the real problem sits outside we'll tell you before we skim over it.
Where We Cover in Freckleton
Freckleton's housing tells you roughly when each part of the village arrived. The oldest cottages and brick terraces sit around the centre and towards the Naze end, where the village runs down to the Ribble marshes. Around them are the post-war semis and bungalows that make up most of the stock, and newer estates have been filling the ground between here and Warton for years. It's commuter territory, with Preston one way along the A584 and Lytham the other, and most owners are improving the house they're in rather than moving on.
The weather comes off the estuary. South of the village it's open marsh down to the Ribble, so south and west-facing walls take wind-driven rain with little in the way to slow it. It's gentler than the seafront, no salt spray stripping paint, but old cement render here still goes porous, pebbledash loosens and turns grey, and hairline cracks that sit harmless all summer feed damp into the wall all winter. Once frost gets into a wet crack, a small repair starts turning into a bigger one.
We work right across Freckleton, including Warton and Newton, and out into the surrounding towns and villages.

Plastering Questions
It depends on the state of the walls more than anything. A re-skim over sound plaster costs a lot less than hacking off, reboarding and skimming from scratch. Rather than quote blind, we look at the job and give you a free written quote, usually within 48 hours, so you know the full price before we mix a bag.
Usually, yes. If the old surface is sound and well stuck we can prep it and skim straight over, which keeps the cost and the mess down. If it's blown, damp or crumbling, skimming over it just hides the problem for a year or two. We'll check it properly and tell you which one you're dealing with before we quote.
You need to let it dry out fully first. Fresh plaster turns from dark to a pale, even colour as it dries, often around a week depending on the room, the season and how much heat and airflow it gets. Paint it too early and you seal moisture in. When we finish we'll tell you when it's safe to get the rollers out.
