Plastering in Kirkham
Plastering across Kirkham (PR4), about 20 minutes from our base.
Plastering for Kirkham Homes
A good chunk of our Kirkham work is plastering. The older terraces and cottages in the centre tend to need re-skims, patching over old repairs and sorting walls that have gone hollow or dusty after decades of wallpaper. The new estates bring the other end of it: boarding and skimming garages, lofts and extensions.
Inside or out, it's the same trade done properly. Skimming, plasterboarding, patch repairs and full rooms, plus external work where a wall needs a sand and cement scratch coat before anything else goes near it. One team for the plastering and the rendering means one quote and one point of contact, which saves you juggling trades.

- Old plaster in the town-centre terraces gone soft, cracked or hollow when you tap it
- Walls and ceilings needing a full re-skim after wallpaper stripping or old artex
- New-build garages, lofts and extensions on the estates needing boarding and skimming
- Patch repairs around new windows, sockets and chased-in wiring that need blending flat
Plasterer and renderer in one visit. Whether it's one wall in a Kirkham terrace or every room in a new extension, we'll skim it flat, leave it clean and have it ready for paint.
Where We Cover in Kirkham
Kirkham is really two kinds of town in one. The centre is the old market town: brick terraces, cottages and shops that have stood for well over a century, with more of the same over the railway in Wesham. A lot of those older houses are solid brick with cement render, pebble dash or roughcast that has seen better days, and re-rendering them properly means sorting the prep, not just skinning over the top.
Then there are the new estates going up on the edges of Kirkham and Wesham, some of the biggest housebuilding on the Fylde right now. New builds bring their own work: snagging patchy render, finishing self-build plots, matching an extension into the original coat. And while Kirkham sits back from the seafront, it's still open Fylde countryside out here. West-facing gables take wind-driven rain off the Irish Sea all winter, and cheap render shows it first.
We work right across Kirkham, including Wesham and Wrea Green, and out into the surrounding towns and villages.

Plastering Questions
It depends on the state of the walls more than anything. A re-skim over sound plaster costs a lot less than hacking off, reboarding and skimming from scratch. Rather than quote blind, we look at the job and give you a free written quote, usually within 48 hours, so you know the full price before we mix a bag.
Usually, yes. If the old surface is sound and well stuck we can prep it and skim straight over, which keeps the cost and the mess down. If it's blown, damp or crumbling, skimming over it just hides the problem for a year or two. We'll check it properly and tell you which one you're dealing with before we quote.
You need to let it dry out fully first. Fresh plaster turns from dark to a pale, even colour as it dries, often around a week depending on the room, the season and how much heat and airflow it gets. Paint it too early and you seal moisture in. When we finish we'll tell you when it's safe to get the rollers out.
