Plastering in Thornton
Plastering across Thornton (FY5), right here on our home patch in Thornton-Cleveleys.
Plastering for Thornton Homes
Plastering is the other half of what we do, and being based in Thornton means we can fit smaller internal jobs in around the big external ones. Skimming a lounge, boarding out a garage conversion, making good after a rewire: if you need a plasterer in Thornton, we're already here. No call-out mileage built into the price, no waiting weeks for someone to turn up.
The interwar semis round here often have old plaster that has blown or crazed over the decades, and plenty of ceilings still carry artex. We re-skim over sound backgrounds, overboard the rough ones, and handle plasterboarding on fresh stud work in extensions and loft rooms. Internal and external plastering, all done by the same fully insured team that handles the rendering.

- Blown plaster coming away from the wall in older Thornton semis
- Artex ceilings owners want boarded over and skimmed flat
- Damp-damaged plaster at low level needing hacking off and reinstating
- New extensions and garage conversions needing plasterboarding and a full skim
- Rough, uneven walls that need flattening before decorating
One team for the inside and the outside keeps a Thornton job simple. We quote plastering on its own or alongside a render job, in writing, normally within two days. Ring 07394 854 401 and tell us what needs doing.
Where We Cover in Thornton
Thornton is the inland half of Thornton-Cleveleys, the side around Marsh Mill rather than the seafront. The housing is a proper mix: interwar semis along the older roads, post-war estates in Little Thornton, newer developments off Amounderness Way, and older terraces and bungalows out towards the River Wyre and Burn Naze. A lot of it was finished in cement render or pebble dash that's now well past its best.
Sitting a mile or two back from the front takes the edge off the worst of the seafront weather, but this is still the Fylde Coast. Wind-driven rain comes in off the Irish Sea, walls can stay wet for weeks over winter, and salt carries this far inland. Old cement render here cracks, lets water get in behind and blows. That's why we push silicone systems: flexible, self-cleaning and built for exactly this.
We work right across Thornton, including Little Thornton and Burn Naze, and out into the surrounding towns and villages.
Postcodes we cover: FY5.

Plastering Questions
It depends on the state of the walls more than anything. A re-skim over sound plaster costs a lot less than hacking off, reboarding and skimming from scratch. Rather than quote blind, we look at the job and give you a free written quote, usually within 48 hours, so you know the full price before we mix a bag.
Usually, yes. If the old surface is sound and well stuck we can prep it and skim straight over, which keeps the cost and the mess down. If it's blown, damp or crumbling, skimming over it just hides the problem for a year or two. We'll check it properly and tell you which one you're dealing with before we quote.
You need to let it dry out fully first. Fresh plaster turns from dark to a pale, even colour as it dries, often around a week depending on the room, the season and how much heat and airflow it gets. Paint it too early and you seal moisture in. When we finish we'll tell you when it's safe to get the rollers out.
