External Wall Insulation in Carleton
External Wall Insulation across Carleton (FY6), two minutes from our base.
External Wall Insulation for Carleton Homes
A lot of Carleton's older houses were built with solid walls or next to no insulation, and they leak heat all winter. External wall insulation deals with that from the outside: insulation boards fixed across the walls, then a full render system over the top, finished in silicone or monocouche in whichever colour you pick.
Paying for it yourself, the sums are simple enough. The house holds its heat, the boiler works less, the cold spots and condensation on outside walls ease off, and the property gets a brand new finish in the same job. If your render is due for replacement anyway, the scaffold and the top coat are already in the price, so insulating at the same time will never be cheaper than it is then.

- Solid-walled semis and bungalows that never warm up properly in winter
- Condensation and mould on cold outside walls, worst behind furniture
- Heating bills creeping up in houses with no cavity to fill
- Render at the end of its life anyway, making one combined job the sensible route
We'll quote it both ways, rendered only and insulated then rendered, so you can see the difference on paper and decide with real numbers in front of you. Both quotes free, in writing, within a couple of days.
Where We Cover in Carleton
Carleton grew up as a village between Poulton-le-Fylde and Thornton and it still carries itself like one. The streets are leafy and settled: 1930s semis with bays and gables, low bungalows, a decent spread of detached houses and pockets of newer infill where odd plots have been built on over the years. People here look after their properties, and a wall of cracked render or tired pebble dash stands out against the neighbours in a way it never would on a busier road.
The village sits a couple of miles back from the sea front, so walls here are spared the worst of the salt, but the Fylde weather still arrives sideways for a good chunk of the year. What Carleton adds is shade. Mature trees and hedges keep plenty of elevations damp long after the rain has stopped, and slow-drying render goes green and streaky, especially on north-facing walls. Add original 1930s dash and cement render reaching the end of its life, and there's plenty for us to do two minutes from the yard.
We work right across Carleton, including Norcross, and out into the surrounding towns and villages.

External Wall Insulation Questions
More than a straight render, because there's the boards and an extra stage of work on top of the normal system. As a rough anchor, rendering alone on a typical 3-bed semi runs £3,000 to £6,000, and an insulated system sits above that. We survey the house and give you a free written quote, usually within 48 hours, so you get a real number, not a guess.
Longer than render on its own. Most straight rendering jobs take 3 to 7 days, and fitting boards adds an extra stage before the mesh, basecoat and finish go on. The exact timescale depends on the size of the house and the weather, so we put it in writing with your quote.
Usually, yes, with a bit of planning. The boards can go on in most conditions. It's the basecoat and finish that need reasonable temperatures and a dry window to cure properly, so we watch the forecast and won't spray a top coat in frost or driving rain. After more than 15 years working this coast, we're used to planning around the weather.
